Tissue
I have always used a camera to focus on bodies, sculpture, and botanical forms. With this work, I wanted to include all of these interests. The “Tissue” pieces are printed on Japanese rice papers. As I handled the paper—coating it with iridescent sealants, printing it, tearing it, drawing on it—I began to see how this resilient, yet delicate, material was connecting images shot over a number of years. In a metaphoric sense, the paper is the tissue tying together memories and moments in time.
